  1. If you have taught the concept of rhyming words to kids. Then kids can play with these puzzles. 
  2. First, we will teach to kids, what are the rhyming words. Rhyming words mean words that have the same ending sounds.
  3. Let's see some examples. I will take three words pain, rain, and main. these words have the same ending sound. So, these are the rhyming words.

WORD PUZZLE FOR KIDS

  1. I have written these words here. these are two sets of sentences. Clues are given in these sentences to solve these puzzles. 
  2. Across and Down these two are directions. 
  3. Across words, we will write from left to right. 
  4. Down words, we will write in up to the down direction.
  5. Numbers are given where we have to place words. 
  6. Now we will read these clues and solve these puzzles.


  • I rhyme with ham. Ending sound of ham is "am" Kids will find rhyming words for ham from here. 
  • Rhyming words of ham is the jam. Because these both have the same ending sound is "am". 
  • So these are rhyming words. Now we place these words This is 1st words and has Across direction so we will write it from left to the right direction. 
  • Now we will read the clue for down direction words.

  • I rhyme with sacks. That has ending sound as "lacks". 
  • Now we will find a rhyming word for sacks. 
  • Jacks is the rhyming words of sacks. Because these both have the same ending sounds. 
  • This is for down direction so we will write it from up to down direction.


  • I rhyme with beans. Beans have ending sound is  "means". The Jeans is the rhyming words of beans.
  •  Because these both have the same ending sound as "means". 
  • This is the 2nd word for Across direction so we will write it from left to right direction.


  • I rhyme with deep. Deep has ending sound as "eep". 
  • Jeep is a rhyming word of deep. These both have ending sound as "eep". 
  • We will write it in the down direction. 


  • I rhyme with bump. Bump has ending sound as  "ump". 
  • Jump is the rhyming words of a bump. because these both have the same ending sound. 
  • This is the 3rd number of words and has Across direction, so we will write it from left to right.


  • I rhyme with a dog. The dog has ending sound as "of". 
  • Jog is rhyming words of Dog. We write it in Down direction, and J is already there. We will see more worksheets.

  1. For Across direction, clues are given for 2nd, 3rd, 4th numbers. But not for 1st word. Because for 1st words, space is given for only from up to down direction. 
  2. In down direction, the clue is given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd words. But not for 4th word. Because  4th word has only cross direction. 
  3. First kids will read these clues and understand it. They can start with easy words. We will start from 2nd number.

  • _____is my birthdayThe answer is Today. We will write it from up to down direction. By mistake, I made one more box here. Sorry about that.

  • Dolls and balls are kind of  _____, The answer is Toys. This is a 3rd word that has Across direction. so we will write it from left to right. 

  • Can you _____me a story? The Answer is Tell. We will write it from left to right direction.

  • Hank is  ___ for his age. The Answer is Tall. T and L are already there, and we will write it in the down direction.


  • The baby is beginning to  ____. The Answer is Talk. We will write from left to right.

  •  How long did the test ___? The answer is Take. K is already there. So we write the remaining letters.
